Compress Image to 200KB

Reduce JPG, PNG or WebP images to under 200KB at high quality. Free and private: nothing is uploaded.

🔒 Files never leave your device

200KB leaves room for a detailed, full-width photo, which makes it a good target for website images, listings and document uploads. This tool keeps as much quality as the limit allows.

How to use the Compress to 200KB tool

  1. Choose or drop one or more images (JPG, PNG or WebP).
  2. Set the target size in KB, or keep the preset.
  3. The tool finds the highest quality that fits under your limit, and only shrinks the pixel dimensions if it has to.
  4. Download each compressed image.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs inside your browser using the built-in Canvas API. Your files never leave your device, and the tool keeps working if you go offline after the page loads.

Why is the result a JPG instead of a PNG?

JPG and WebP let us adjust quality in small steps, which is what makes hitting an exact size possible. PNG is lossless, so it can't be squeezed down to a chosen size the same way.

What happens if my target size is too small?

If the lowest quality setting is still too large, the tool reduces the width and height in steps until the file fits. The final dimensions are shown next to each result.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas become white. Pick WebP as the output format to keep transparency.
